Ayeyarwaddy International School was founded in 2011 by U Aung Ko Latt, a local entrepreneur whose dream was to bring to Mandalay an exceptional school which would prepare local, national, and international students for university life through an academic program using English as the language of instruction. With the financial support of the CEO family (U Liu You Guang and Daw Gao Cai Mei), construction of the main campus was completed in early 2012, and our first full academic year began in May of that same year with an enrollment of just over 400 students. Word of what we were doing in our first year spread quickly, and this resulted in a jump in enrollment to over 700 students for our second year.
Now in our seventh year of operation, we currently enroll over 1,000 students from Preschool to Grade 12. We are proud to announce that 100% of our 2017 graduates are attending college in the US and that 100% of our 2018 graduates were accepted into colleges in the US (85%), the UK (10%), and Australia (5%). Both AIS and Myanmar are in the midst of a tremendous growth period, and there's no limit as to what our students and this country can achieve in the future.
