Myanmar Marine Company, Ltd.is a private limited company
incorporated under the Myanmar Companies Act. It was established in January 1992 with the prime
object of exploiting all opportunities in the field of Mercantile Marine and
Shipping business in Myanmar,
Myanmar Marine Company Limited is projected to carry out all
related activities in ship management, husbandry, freight forwarding,
inspection and technical services, and to act as correspondents for P&I
clubs and non-exclusive surveyors for cargo insurers and adjusters and
classification societies.
The founders of the company are Captain Kyaw Thein Lwin,
Chairman of, Mariner Enterprises Ltd., Yangon , a leading ship manning company
which was initially established in Bangkok, Thailand in 1982 and the late
Colonel (rtd.) Hla Myint, ex- Chairman and Managing Director of Burma Ports
Corporation ( Myanmar Ports Authority ).
The major aim and object of the Company is to create shore
based employment for experienced and qualified marine professionals as and when
they give up their seafaring careers and to utilize their proven professional
experience and expertise in marine related shore establishments..
Eighteen shareholders of the Company are carefully chosen
from reputable Myanmar marine and engineering professionals who are prepared to
contribute and share their experiences for the benefit of the Company and its
progress.
Services
- Representing Owners supervising all activities at any port
of the Union of Myanmar, using endeavour to comply at all times any reasonable
specific instructions, which the Principal may give;
- Providing and coordinating marketing and sales services,
canvassing and booking cargo, using effort to obtain business from prospective
shippers and consolidate the flow of statistics and information;
- Providing statistic and information on cargo bookings,
announcing arrival and sailing dates, updated freight tariffs, quoting freight
rates and using space allotments in accordance with owner’s requirements:
- Supervising and coordinating all activities with the
terminal operators to ensure proper performance, customary requirements for
best possible operation and economical dispatch within the scope and schedules
of all ports in Myanmar;
- Issuing Bills of Lading and Manifest, delivery orders,
certificates and such other documents reasonably required;
- Arranging of berthing vessels, loading and discharging of
cargo in accordance with local conditions;
- Calling forward, receiving and loading of outward cargo,
discharge and release of inward cargo, attending to the transshipment of
through cargo;
- Arranging for bunkering, repairs, crew changes, ship’s
stores, spare parts, technical and nautical assistance, as may be required by
the vessel whilst in port;
- Instructing and supervising port and inland agents regarding
the Principal’s requirement such as container handling, P&I matters,
general average and insurance and appointment of surveyors;
- Attending all necessary cargo documentation and consular
requirements as required;
- Attending to clearance of the vessel and all other services
appertaining to the vessels mooring and berthing through the port;
- Stuffing, un-stuffing and supervision of LCL cargo at the
port of any other inland terminals and additional container shipping documents;
- Setting up and administering a system for the control and
registration of equipment, i.e Container racks, trailers or similar cargo
carrying devices, owned, leased, or otherwise controlled by the local
organizing equipment stock and provisioning for their storage, positioning,
repositioning and the leasing of equipment into and redelivering out the
system;
- Preparing equipment interchange documents in compliance with
Customs requirements, which the agent shall be responsible, to control the
supply and use of locks and labels;
- Making equipment and means available for inland haulage by
road, rail and waterways.
- Controlling equipment damage and arranging for repairs and
maintenance when and where reporting on their condition on a regular basis.
- To minimize the port disbursement and to minimize the time
spent in port;
- Chartering of vessel on voyage, time or bareboat for Myanmar
flag registry;
- Recruiting and manning crew on foreign owned vessel ( by
associate Company, Mariner Enterprises, ltd. )
